It also supports the body's acid/base balance by exerting an alkalising action.

Despite the beneficial effects of Potassium Bicarbonate, it does not have a pleasant taste, which is why we have added a natural sweetener called Xylitol, derived from birch, which does not raise blood sugar levels and has 40% fewer calories than normal sugar (sucrose). It is known for its anti-microbial, anti-oxidant effect and is considered to be a non-digestible sugar, which is why its intestinal fermentation appears to be able to produce the all-important SCFA 'Short Chain Fatty Acids' thus improving immune response, intestinal integrity and calcium absorption. Xylitol promotes the growth of probiotics such as lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, reducing the chances of intestinal infection, growth of putrefactive bacteria (Clostridium perfringens) and pathogenic bacteria (Salmonella, Shigella, Listeria, Escherichia coli, Clostridium difficile).
